Bridgeport Public Library Poetry Contest 2007POETS & POETRY @your libraryThe winners of the Bridgeport Public Library Poetry Contest 2007 were selected and honored last Thursday night May 17) at a poetry reading night. Because of such creative entries, two poems from each category were selected.
The Farmerby Ti Wright
Many stories told in the well weathered skin.
Just another day hoping for rain, cattle to be worked, seeds to be planted, worn out machinery and mangled fences to be rescued.
The rich brown soil beneath his hard-soled boots, the smell of cattle manure hovering over him in the air, it’s the life he’s chosen, a life he must work every day for.
His worn out body crumbling into the thriving soil, his growing hair sprouting into ears of corn, pods of beans, purple blossoms of hay. the words seeping from his lips mooing to be fed. his heart bursting into drops of rain and rays of sunlight to nourish the well tended farm.

Books, magazines, cassettes, and cd loan periods are 2 weeks. Current magazines are 1 week only. Video/ DVD loan periods are 3 days. Reference material cannot be checked out. FREE-FRIDAYs Any items overdue, bring into the library (not the book drop) on Fridays during regular business hours to waive your overdue fees. Free-Friday does not apply to new releases.
