Bridgeport Public LibraryILL (Inter-Library Loan)
Libraries are all about sharing and usually provide a collection of resources that everyone can use. The Bridgeport Public Library belongs to a network called the WorldCat Resource Sharing. WorldCat is supported by NEBASE, a facilitator to OCLC services which provides ongoing promotion and support of Nebraska libraries, sharing resources and information. Through this network, more than 7,000 libraries across the board share their materials through inter-library loans (one library borrowing from another).
WorldCat Resource Sharing helps OCLC (Online Computer Library Center) libraries create, send, manage and track inter-library loan requests and document orders. From small local libraries to large universities and other institutions, requested materials get into your hands quickly.
OCLC is a nonprofit, membership, computer library service and research organization dedicated to the public purposes of furthering access to the world's information and reducing information costs. More than 53,548 libraries in 96 countries and territories around the world use OCLC services to locate, acquire, catalog, lend and preserve library materials.
If you can't find a specific book, book on tape/cd, or document in the Bridgeport Public Library, ask the staff to do a statewide/nationwide search-and-request with the OCLC ILL, the Inter-Library Loan database. Most requests are found and shipped. The usual delivery time is close to one week. The cost of postage is charged to the patron.
