Bridgeport Public Schools - Bridgeport Public Library

More and more AR books are being added to our shelves every day.

******************************

ACCELERATED READING PROGRAM

The goals of using the Accelerated Reader Program are to improve reading skills, to foster in children the love of reading and in turn making life-long readers.

Students begin by taking the STAR Reading Test at their school. This test establishes the students reading grade level. Students are then assigned a reading goal and may read books in their established reading level. Upon completion of the book, students complete a computer test. The completed quiz assigns points depending on the degree of success the student achieves.

The Bridgeport Public Library does not shelve all of the books which are listed as an "Accelerated Reader" book.  The MASTER book list, along with the different levels, are listed on the Bridgeport Public Schools website.   The Bridgeport Public Library does have a variety of the AR books and can be checked out to the student.

Books, magazines, cassettes, and cd loan periods are 2 weeks. Current magazines are 1 week only. Video/ DVD loan periods are 3 days.  Reference material cannot be checked out

FREE-FRIDAYs

Any items overdue, bring into the library (not the book drop) on Fridays during regular business hours to waive your overdue fees. Free-Friday does not apply to new releases.
